Sapphire Sweater Is Still Coming Along

I'll try to post an update pic of the sweater soon. It's coming along. I've done the arm holes and am working on the torso now. Amazingly enough it actually fits.

I was working on it in a tavern Saturday evening and a couple of women were looking at it and saying that there was no way that sweater would fit me, it just looked too small. Of course that was because it was scrunched up on the cable.

Nothing would convince them except for slipping it off onto a pair of 60" cables and putting it on to show them.

No big deal I was at a point I wanted to try it on again anyway.

They were really amazed when I reached the end of the skein and showed them how I use the felted join to add the next one. It was like putting on a magic show

Felted join IS a magic show as far as I'm concerned because I can never get it to work. Maybe my spit isn't strong enough!

I just dip the ends in a glass of water but the trick is to rub them together between your palms rather quickly and with a fair amount of pressure.

Wow, I've never heard of "felted join" before. I looked it up on the web and it is very cool. Thanks Knitting Guy!

Yeah the felted join is great, no tails to weave in and no wasted yarn.

I just heard about your blog on Ravelry, it looks really cool. I love your ugly tie!
My husband used to work for a trucking brokerage company in CT and you guys sure do get around! How awesome to always be able to find a new yarn store. I go to yarn stores like people go to wine tastings or breweries. I just love exloring new ones!
