White Beanie

This past week I wanted to try out the new 16" needles to make a hat and also decided to try something new, using a combination of increases and decreases to create a pattern of holes. I think it worked out quite well.

I also decided to try a new technique for doing the decreases. Instead of using Magic Loop I employed two circulars and it worked out very well. I think that's going to be my method of choice for small diameter circular knitting from now on. I guess I'll be ordering duplicate Options points and extra cables.

Looks good, I like it. Are you going to post the pattern on either your blog or Ravelry?

I've yet to try either the magic loop method or the two circs method, I like dpns and they work for me quite well, but I guess it is good to try new things!

Thanks. I guess I could write out the pattern for it, I just didn't think anyone would be interested in such aa simplistic design by a novice knitter.

I personally hate DPNs and will go out of my way to avoid using them. Until now I've been a big fan of ML but I think I like the two circs method even better.

Thanks. It's a pretty quick knit.

Instead of duplicating individual sizes for the 2 circ method, I'd just stock up a couple of extra size 4s. As long as the working needle is the correct size, the other end only has to be the same or smaller.

I just finished knitting a series of hats with a size 13 on one end and a size 10 on the other (the ribbing was done with 10s on both ends). The stitches flowed off the left needle so easily, I think my knitting speed increased a little!

Can't wait to see how your mom's hat turns out. :)
