New Needles

Today the mailman brought me the two new 16" circs I ordered from Knit Picks. A size 10 and a size 8. I ordered them for doing hats.

While they seem really small to me, I'm looking forward to using them for a proper sized hat.

I love getting new toys. :D

I've been doing a lot of hats lately (all in worsted weight yarn) and starting all on size 9 circs. But I've found when I switched to dpns I'd go down to an 8, and seem to get a better result with decreasing. Just turned out with a nicer, tighter fabric - not sure why but it works for me!

Thanks. I don't normally switch to DPNs but rather just go to Magic Loop to finish the decreases, but I'll keep that tip in mind and maybe switch a size down on the circs at that point. Makes sense.

I went through a hat phase a little while ago and tried magic loop; it didn't work out so well. I once used magic loop when I was testing a baby sweater pattern for a designer; I used ML for the sleeves and remember it fondly. For some reason though, using ML for the hat was a disaster. I probably didn't use a long enough cable. I just love my DPNs :) Hehe...

I really like magic loop but on my most recent hat project decided to try the two circs method and really liked it.
